Restoring the Earth's Precious Resources
At Pathway we are extremely proud of the various training courses we maintain, our students and the high rate of success they achieve. Among the achievements that gives us the most satisfaction is our dedicated partnership with the environmental group, Tree Appeal.
Tree Appeal has one essential mission: to plant trees throughout the UK. They work with large corporations that sponsor the planting of these trees, and Pathway has been part of this important and worthwhile process since our inception. The primary endeavour of Tree Appeal is their Tree Twinning Program. This is their policy of working with companies that have agreed to finance the planting of a new tree within the UK, and their efforts to plant a second, or "twin" tree in a still developing nation.
Pathway's role in this is to guarantee a tree is planted on our behalf for every single course we provide to our students. Regardless of what size the class is or how many we run, a tree will be planted in the UK each time a new course begins. In return, the Tree Appeal group plants the twin tree in another country such as Ghana. In this way we are helping to give back to the environment and replenish the natural resources of the Earth. We are aware that every corporation uses these resources and adds their own carbon footprint to the atmosphere, such as the carbon that is emitted from every vehicle. Our goal with the Tree Twinning Program is to erase that footprint and restore a positive balance to the environment. The planting of trees helps accomplish this in several ways:
- Trees produce oxygen and therefore help to encourage and support life.
- Many animals, birds and insects utilize trees as their home, and rely on them for their own sustainment.
- Carbon and other air pollutants is absorbed by tree leaves, thus taking these toxins out of the air we breathe.
- The climate of the planet is partially controlled and moderated by trees.
In short, trees are one of the primary building blocks of life. They clean our air, help reduce the effects of severe weather and provide shelter to a large variety of wildlife. Each year millions of trees are cut down, and we feel it is the responsibility of every large corporation to do their part to reverse that process and provide new trees for the future.
The Tree Appeal is rapidly becoming one of the most celebrated and honored groups in the UK. They are fully supported by major corporations, celebrities, government officials and people from all walks of life. The prestigious group known as The Green Organisation recently awarded them the distinct honour of a plaque that recognizes Tree Appeal as being "Green Heroes". Only groups that are dedicated to saving, protecting and replenishing the environment are awarded this highly esteemed commendation. They were also awarded the title of "Green Champion" by the House of Commons for their continued efforts in the UK. Just a few of the many important government officials and strongly influential personalities that have endorsed and praised Tree Appeal include Lord Foster, Jim Knight and Tony Blair. Tree Appeal is rapidly becoming one of the most recognized and celebrated environmental groups throughout the world, and Pathway is proud to be partnered with them.
All of us at Pathway feel it is our duty to remain as environmentally conscious as possible and to give back to nature in any way we can. As such we shall continue to be involved in the Tree Twinning program for every course we teach, and to protect our natural resources in any way possible. Please help us to make a global difference and do our part. Whenever you work with Pathway, you will know that two trees have been planted in your good name, and in that way you will help out in this effort as well.
